The phone calls are coming in and Snowshoe Mountain Resort is almost full for the holidays. But there are plenty of wonderful places to stay with your family and friends. From B&B’s to quaint country inns, from modern motels to historic guest cottages, from state park cabins to luxurious condos, Pocahontas County has it all.

One of the many services the Pocahontas County CVB provides to the visitor is an up-to-date referral service. Our office keeps a listing of all the lodging establishments in the county, what rooms are still available, how many people each can accommodate and where they are located. So when Snowshoe is full, they refer the visitor to our office (800-336-7009), and we do the rest.

What really surprises visitors are the number and variety of lodging choices. Pocahontas County can sleep over 10,000 people at one time. That is more than the population of the county, and we do it throughout the winter season. Just think about that – the population of Pocahontas County doubles in the winter and then some.

Last year, Snowshoe counted almost 500,000 visitors. That number multiplied by $69.50 (the state average per person/per day) means almost 35 million dollars was generated in Pocahontas County. And that is just in the winter months.

So get ready, they’re coming and we can’t wait until they’re here!
