After an unusually mild fall, Snowshoe Mountain was forced to delay it’s Opening Day for the winter ski and snowboard season. Snowshoe’s Opening Day was planned for Wednesday, November 25^th, but the resort has seen only 4” of natural snowfall since early October, and has had very few chances to make snow for sustained periods, due to mild temperatures. Forecasts do show cold air and possibly some natural snowfall moving into the resort’s area beginning late next week, and Snowshoe has targeted December 4^th as its new tentative Opening Day for the 2009-2010 season.

On Wednesday, November 25^th, the resort did open a variety of amenities off the slopes, including several dining and shopping outlets, an indoor/outdoor pool facility, and the resort’s 15,000 sq. ft. Big Top Entertainment Centre. Snowshoe’s beautiful location and mountaintop Village provided a fun-filled destination for families and friends gathering for the Thanksgiving Holiday, and the resort’s Junction Restaurant served a traditional Thanksgiving Feast on Thursday.
